RDS Partners partnered with Relationships Australia Tasmania, Tasmanian Social Inclusion Unit and Circular Head Council to provide an opportunity for local people to express what mattered to them – their community assets and strengths – at a time of rapid change for the community.
Taking a community development perspective, RDS Partners conducted participatory research and independent data analysis, producing a report that reflected community values and priorities.
This process resulted in a number of positive outcomes for the community:
- Relationships Australia Tasmania has developed key partnering relationships and deepened their understanding of building sensitive useful family support in the rural area,
- funding for the youth centre was secured and the much-valued 7-Up Centre was reopened, and
- the Council deepened their understanding of their potential role in working with community on mental health and youth support.
That’s the kind of result we like.
